PostHeaderIcon Argentina Tours: Mendoza Wine And Olive Tours

Taking a wine tour in Mendoza is something that you have to do when visiting the foothill region to the east of the Andes in Argentina. The varied altitudes and contours actually make for better wine making as each variety of grape requires varying amounts of sunshine and temperature. It can be very technical as experts will tell you as it affects the eventual taste of the grape.

When going on a wine tour you have a number of options from the centre of Mendoza. There are many providers that offer a range of tours that depend on what you are looking for and how long you want to spend exploring the vineyards.

One of the most popular options is to tour by bike as this is usually the cheapest. This is definitely the option if you value your independence. You can either take a taxi or take a bus to one of the many bike rental firms out of the city or arrange through an agency. Where you go depends on what vineries that you want to visit. By taking a bike tour you may need to pay for each vinery you visit, so do your research. You should check with each rental firm or agency as to what vineyards are near and the level of difficulty for the ride. However, this option is the best way to have day out in the country, seeing the stunning views and rows and rows of vine. Make sure you take a bottle of water with you, as if you do this tour you will probably be in the sun all day.

However if the thought of cycling after each wine tasting does not appeal to you, you could take a minivan tour which will take you to a range of vineyards over the course of the day or afternoon depending on the tour. One advantage of this is that you get to see more of the whole Mendoza region as the distances that you cover are greater. However, by taking this option you do not have the time to wonder the vineries at your own pace and take full advantage of what some of the vineyards have to offer – some offer longer tours and even a terrace lunch.

Another more expensive option would be to go to each vineyard by taxi. This option is would be good if you have know exactly where you want to go and what you want to see. You have less freedom to explore a range vineyards unless you mind combining with some walking. It would be an idea to take a few numbers of taxi firms that the vineyards can call for you if you are unable to flag a taxi down. Ultimately though you could have the taxi all with you for all the places you want to visit.

You may want to research some of the most popular wines made in the region – some may already be your favorite. Some vineyards require you to book tours in advance or may only offer them at certain times, this is particularly true at some of the smaller and more traditional wineries, especially when you want a tour in English. Each vineyard has a different experience, some offer free wine tasting and other require payment, but by taking an organized minivan tour these charges are normally included.

Along the routes that you may take and dotted in between vineyards are a range of olive groves that offer the same experience as vineyards. You can see how they grow olives; learn difference between the types of olives and how they are harvested for sale.
